Grace in the Mirror

A Barber. A Chair. A Movement.

Grace in the Mirror

Building Trades. Growing Communities.
One Haircut at a Time.

What begins in a barber chair becomes a network of tradesmen, farmers, builders, and mentors — opening doors to careers, land, and ownership for the next generation.

100% of donations fund mentorship events, trade training & the Orchard vision.

Help us build the network — before we can build the farm. Every dollar funds a mentor connection, a trade introduction, or a community event.

More Than Mentoring —
A Movement

Grace in the Mirror is a community coalition connecting young adults ages 17–21 with mentors, skilled trades, and real-world opportunities — beginning with something as simple and powerful as a free haircut at a community event.

The barber chair is where trust is built. From there, we connect young people to electricians, contractors, farmers, heavy equipment operators, and entrepreneurs who become mentors and open doors some men never knew existed.

"To restore confidence, create connection, and open doors to purpose through mentorship, community, and the dignity of skilled work."

The Chair

The barber chair is our first point of contact. Grooming opens conversation. Conversation builds trust. Trust opens every door that follows.

The Network

Tradesmen, farmers, builders, and entrepreneurs who commit to mentoring. One skilled mentor can redirect a young person's entire future.

The Vision

A working farm and training homestead — Grace in the Orchard — where mentees can learn land stewardship, agriculture, and a path to ownership.

Self-Sufficiency

Every trade learned is a door to financial independence. We build people so people can build — homes, farms, businesses, and communities.

Trades That Create Self-Sufficiency

Mentors in our coalition bring real skills across four industries. Mentees don't just learn — they apprentice, work, and earn. These are careers, not just classes.

Barbering & Cosmetology

The trade that started it all. Barbering is entrepreneurship, people skills, and a license-backed career — the original door to independence in this movement.

Entrepreneurship

Construction & Carpentry

Framing, finishing, renovation, and building — the ability to construct structures that outlast you. Mentors connect apprentices directly to job sites and paying work.

Apprenticeships Available

Farming & Agriculture

Growing food is power. Mentees learn soil preparation, crop management, livestock, and sustainable farming — with a path toward land and farm ownership.

Path to Ownership

Infrastructure & Heavy Equipment

Concrete, excavation, land clearing, and heavy equipment operation. High-demand, high-paying trades that build the physical foundation of communities.

A Working Farm & Training Homestead

Chris and Kanita Ginwright are building a working farm and training homestead at elevation in Southern California — where the network comes to plant roots, learn trades, and find a path to land ownership.

How It Works

From a Haircut at a Community Event to a Career in the Trades

01

Show Up

We show up at community events with a barber chair. A free haircut opens conversation, builds trust, and introduces the movement — without pressure.

02

Connect

Young adults who want more are invited into a brief conversation about their interests, goals, and the trades they want to explore. No gatekeeping.

03

Match

Mentees are matched with a mentor in their trade of interest — a barber, contractor, farmer, or equipment operator willing to invest in their growth.

04

Build

Mentees apprentice, work, earn, and grow. The best-case outcome: they arrive at Grace in the Orchard with skills, community, and a vision for ownership.

"Every barber chair is a place where someone let their guard down. People talk to their barber about things they don't tell anyone else. That trust is the most powerful tool for mentorship I've ever seen — and I've been sitting inside it for years. If one barber can open a door, imagine what a whole coalition can do."

— Chris Ginwright, Founder · Grace in the Mirror

Why the Chair Matters

The barber's chair has always been more than a seat — it's where men told the truth and remembered they mattered. Young men sat down without direction and left with something they didn't have words for yet.

Grace in the Orchard is where that moment takes root. The conversation becomes a calling. The care becomes a craft. And the craft becomes something you can stand on — literally.

Grace in the Mirror formalizes what barbers have always done informally: connect people to opportunity. Now we're building the network — from construction sites to farmland — that makes those connections life-changing.

The coalition is growing. The Orchard is the destination. Your donation funds every step between those two points.
